Предлоги направления (Prepositions of direction) показывают, куда или откуда движется человек или предмет. Они отвечают на вопрос «куда?». Не путайте их с предлогами места, которые отвечают на вопрос «где?».

Into и out of
Into показывает движение вовнутрь, out of - наружу.
The children ran into the house. Дети вбежали в дом.
He took his keys out of his pocket. Он достал ключи из кармана.
The bird flew out of the cage. Птица вылетела из клетки.
Onto и off
The cat jumped onto the sofa. Кошка запрыгнула на диван.
The book fell off the shelf. Книга упала с полки.
Get off the grass! Слезь с травы!
Through, across, along, over, under

Towards и away from
He ran towards the exit. Он бежал к выходу.

Типичные ошибки
- He went in the room. Правильно: He went into the room. (при движении)
- She arrived to London. Правильно: She arrived in London (в город) или at the airport (в точку).
- С глаголом go перед словом home предлог не нужен: I go home.
